Our favorite place to get takeout in Newport, Oregon is Lucky Thai Elephant Restaurant. They’re closed on Sundays, but they’re open Monday to Saturday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm and from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Their phone number is 541-265-2959 (keep calling if it doesn’t work, they’ll pick up eventually). They’re located at 807 SW Coast Hwy, Newport, OR 97365, just 10 minutes (or 4.9 miles) south of the Pacific Surf Motorcoach Estate. It is very easy to find and and easy drive from PSME. Plus, there’s always plenty of free parking in their parking lot.

Pumpkin Curry with Chicken
We always order their Pumpkin Curry with Chicken (pumpkin, basil leaves, bell peppers in coconut milk with red curry paste). It comes with steamed rice and for $13.95 it’s the perfect size for 2 people. You can choose your own spice level: mild, medium, hot or extra hot. This is what one order of Pumpkin Curry with Chicken looks like, split between two bowls. It’s wonderful comfort food for chilly, damp evenings on the Oregon coast!

Their Hawaiian Fried Rice (also known as Pineapple Fried Rice) looks amazing. My husband Bob typically orders the Pad See Ew at Thai restaurants, so he’d like to try theirs one day.
